Thorium Bortherhood and other old world reputations

All turnings for things like Thorium Brotherhood and other obscure reps (Timbermaw etc.) have been QUADRUPLED. This means you can get exalted with them for 22 lava/fiery cores and a direbrew remote to quickly port to BRD. I picked up the 10 cores I needed (I was revered) for less than 200g, making this one of the cheapest exalted's I ever got. I didn't need any of the exalted items - the revered already gave +22 int (best heirloom caster enchant) and strength to weapon.

Tuskarmageddon

I finally picked this one up. It's a slow grind because you can only gain 1500 rep per day and the rep required a bunch of travelling to far-off places. Still, you get a nice (epic) +30 fishing pole from it that also gives underwater breathing and a penguin pet. The fishing pole is something I've bee waiting a long time to pick up as it should help with fishing in cataclysm. I have a High-Eternium Line to add to it that I picked up from the fishing daily quests - it seemed a waste to use a +5 line on a crappy pole. Next up: I'm not sure actually. Certainly, I'm going to grind out the BC reps thatare grindable, and I really want to finish skyguard so that I can get my 100 mount achievement almost done, but I'm not sure what to work on next. It will almost certainly be somethign reputation-based, although I DO have a lot fo quests to re-do because of the changes from the Shattering that wiped out 1500 of my hard-earned quests :(

Outland Raider!

I finally found a magtherion group. I've never done this fight at 80. It's so, so much easier. You can ignore all the clicking mechanics and just burn him down. Took all of 2 minutes.

Pilgrim!

I've mostly been grinding out dailies that I don't want to have to run in Cataclysm (Kalu'ak etc.) but I took time to finish up the Pilgrim achievement. Some tips: 1. Getting the four alliance cities is much harder now that the guards are all 85. I wound up having to use an invisibility potion to get there. 2. Killing 40 turkeys isn't hard, you just need to give it a bit of time. Don't kill the next one right away - wait until there are 5 seconds left or so to kill it. This maximizes respawn time. 3. For the "kill a rogue of each race" one, try looking in BG's. Ever since they got rid of Dalaran as a portal area, the place is dead. Just sort the player list by class and go hunting for any dwarf rogues you can find.

So, what have I been doing?

Sorry it's taken so long for an update. I kind of stalled out after hitting 8000. It looks like all achievements in 16 more days probably won't happen, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying. I'm simply goign to turn it into "all achievements as quickly as possible". It also stung a little that all of the Kalimdor quests were reset! I lost at least 100 points right there. I'm going to start working on the new cataclysm achievements today, but first, I'll fill you in on what has been going on. Firstly, I've been making gold. Almost all of my time has been spent on gold generation. I have a nice little business on both the alliance and horde side factions selling Heirloom enchants to all the new rerollers that are coming in for cataclysm. I have over 100 of every low level scroll right now and I'm making a solid 4000g a day with 30 minutes work (after a LOT of fixed setup costs). In addition to the scrolls, I've been tradi

8000 points

Realistically, I think I'll get the "Over 9000" feat in the next 40 days and not much more, but I'll keep plugging away - perhaps I'll finally get a non-fail TOGC and Ulduar hardmode group together...

The Coin Master

Switching it up somewhat, I started picking up some outstanding fishing achievements, notably The Coin Master and its three sub-achievements. In case you were unaware, the Dalaran fountain is fishable and occasionally rewards you with a coin. Once you collect them all, you get a nice blue coin to flip to your hearts content. It's a pure grind and very random - expect to cast a couple of thousand times to get the achievement. I mostly did this while waiting on a raid to form or Wintergrasp to pop - the fact that it's in Dalaran makes it a fairly easy achievement to give a few minutes to here and there. Each coin has a 0.3 chance of dropping and yes, there can be duplicates. Trying to get them all is an exercise in frustration. Two things to note: Get your fishing skill as high as possible with gear and buffs - the fountains are high level and the last thing you want to be doing is gathering a bunch of junk rather than coins. Also, the gold coins can be thrown back into

What a Long, Strange Trip it's Been

I got my Violet Proto Drake! I was starting to get frustrated because the only thing getting in my way was a pure RNG achievement that was capped at one attempt per hour. As someone who works full time and goes to school most evenings (as well as having a family), I don't have the ability to log in every hour all day long, hoping for a drop from a treat bag. That being said, it looked like they have tweaked the drop rate. I actually picked up both the Hallowed Helm and the Sinister Squashling pet from the same Headless Horseman run. They were both in the same bag, along with a mask that I needed. Speaking of masks, the distribution is looking less than random this year. Out of 12 masks I've picked up so far, 11 have been unique. Of course, with such a tiny sample size, I may be wrong. Finally, some notes on Sinister Calling: I had a Hallowed Helm from last year. It's unique. It was in my bank. When I tried to loot it, it said I couldn't loot another one. Here

Violet Drake gives 310% afterall.

"We have a slight update to spread to the masses. We are going to be adding a hotfix for the achievement What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been. This hotfix will make it so that obtaining the Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake will award players Master riding. The way in which 310% will be awarded is going to be a little quirky at first, but we plan to make it a more smooth process in a future patch. For now, you will need 280% flying in order to learn to use the Violet Proto-Drake. Once you mount the drake for the first time it will teach Master riding. The only catch is that you have to dismount and mount the drake again in order for 310% speed to take effect."

Epic Fail :(

I guess I failed. With arena at an end today, it's not longer possible for me to pick up every achievement in the game until next season. That doesn't mean I'm giving up however - working on achievements has made the game exceptionally fun again and is much more interesting that purely doing the end-game raiding thing where I only experience one new bit of content in a week of play. I'm going to continue working on all my achievements and try to pick  up as many as possible before the year is out. I still think that I can get all/almost all of the achievements without a time component. Right now I'm working on finishing Zandalar rep. The reason is simple - it's going away in the expansion and I want the extra exalted rep for future achievements. I'll also be trying for the ZG mount and farming the pets at the same time. In case anyone isn't aware, it's possible to get from nutral to exalted with ZG in around 7 hours but just killing trash,

Brewfest

Horrible grind. I hate achievements that require a log in every day to complete.

Update with 75 days to go

I was in Europe for the last few weeks. I logged in for 5 minute one time to get the pirates day achievement and then never played again. I've spent the last few days catching up with non WoW things. That being said, I did a lot of PVP (especially wintergrasp) and dailies and I busted through a large number of heroic achievements for my Glory of the Hero. I'm down to two occulus ones that I can hopefully finish tomorrow. Other than that, I'm doing Brewfest every morning and trying to finish up the more obscure stuff. I also restarted my gold generation - something I'm goign to have to start hitting hard in the next few days - I need 25,000g for a mount and a ring and a lot more for cata. Should be interesting.

Cataclysm Achievements

The Overachiever at wow.com discusses achievements in cataclysm. The short answer: very little is changing and Loremaster isn't going away. http://www.wow.com/2010/08/26/the-overachiever-cataclysm-achievements-faq/

Ulduar 25

Only 21 people showed up for Lich King last night so we went to Ulduar. Our goal was simple: get ready to down Yogg.We busted through most of the instance and I picked up a few achievements along the wayy. It looks like I'm  going to need to get a dedicated group to finish everything however. This weekend, I'm going to focus on finishing up a lot of the non-PVP solo content so that I can spend more time focuing on PVP in the coming weeks. Ideally I'd liek to get all 5 BC dungeon reputations to exalted.

On track for 8000 my the end of the month.

I still think I can hit 8000 by the end of the month. I picked up a bunch of Ulduar 10-man achievements over the weekend and it looks like I should get a lot more Dungeons and Raids by the end of the week. Some of the larger achievements that I'm planning on finishing up are: Naxx 10 30 reputations (Mostly BC Dungeon ones) 25 Tabards Outland Raider Glory of the Hero

Mag'har of Draenor!

This one wasn't too bad. It took around 3.5 hours of grinding to get from revered to exalted. You'll be revered if you picked up Loremaster - I was roughly 2000/21000 when I started. I killed roughly 800 ogres, flying between ogre camps in Nagrand to get the respawns. You'll also get lots of cystals for Halaa - this is important as Halaa has another two mounts you can buy for Mountain o' Mounts. The Mag'har give you eight  Talbuk ground mounts for getting exalted with them. Because I had already picked up Sporegar and Timbermaw Hold, I also got "The Diplomat" title and achievement. Finally, I got "25 Reputations" from this grind.

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

Outland Dungeon Hero and Timbermaw!

Outland Dungeon Hero was simple enough. The Love Me In That Tunnel requires 6 solid hours of grinding the same mobs over and over. The only way that I could stay sane was to queue for PVP after a couple of clears of the Furbolg camps. Plus, you get a cool trinket for exalted! Finally, I picked up around 10 PVP achievements from all the PVP I was doing. Next up: more PVP and some Mag'Har grinding.

Netherwing!

After many, many dailies, I got exalted with netherwing. I also pickedup enough mounts for the 50-mount achievement (Albino Drake) Time to work on Timbermaw...

Didn't Stand a Chance

This is, in my mind, one of the more annoying PVP achievements. I'd glad I finally picked it up. It requires you to kill 20 players in wintergrasp with a tower cannon. 20 mounted players. i.e. AFK people. The problem is, the tower cannons usually get blown up 30 seconds into the match. The "trick" is to go for cannons on the inside of the fortress since these last the longest. The problem is that by choosing one of these cannons, you can't actually see the players you are shooting at. Anyway, we wound up winning the defensive battle for WG. Instead of posting the achievement shot, I wanted to show what a solid defense game looks like in the endgame:

Can I still do this?

134 days - can I still do this? I have exactly 400 achievements to pick up in 135 days. On the face of it, that doesn't seem like much of a big deal - it's roughly 3 per day but some of them involve huge amounts of work to get. I still think it's possible, unless Cataclysm makes it impossible by removing some achievements before the year is out. Despite appearances, I don't get to play much, except on weekends. Generally I'll drink coffee and play for half an hour most mornings while I try to wake up, but that only gives me enough time to cancel/relist my auctions and get a small set of daily quests completed (currently, I am working on Netherwing). I doubt this will change, so I'm going to have to be agressive about how I plan out my time. Here is my current plan for getting my reputations completed, based on the information from wowjuju.com (http://www.wowjuju.com/repcalc#US_Spirestone_Deathspiral) Netherwing - 2 days of dailies Timebermaw Hold - 2

I bought a mammoth

I was bemoaning my lack of ability to repair while waiting for people to come back from a Sindragosa wipe. Ultimately, I think it's a pretty nice investment: I can vendor all my trash as I get it and I can repair anywhere I wish. I'm down to a few thousand gold after spending 16,000g on the mammoth, but that's fine - the whole point of the gold generation plan was to buy achievements. I have a full stockpile of materials and premade scrolls so my current reduction in cash shouldn't be affected much by the mammoth purchase.

7000 points

I worked on some BC raids and dungeons and finally got my points up to 7000. 8000 by next month!

Finally got into the queue.

I finally, after a LOT of calling, got into the queue. After 20 minutes, someone picked up the phone... and hung up on me. I tried calling back and got "we're sorry, the queue is full" again. Crappy customer service. They should at least give you SOME way to contact them after the cut you off.

Support sucks :/

I tried calling support. They are so busy that they won't even put me in the queue. Not only that, because they have banned my account, I can't post in the tech support forums and I can't use their live chat service to ask for help either.

Banned!

I logged in to complete my neitherwing dailies. I couldn't get in. I check my email and... " ***Notice of Account Closure*** Account Name: **************** Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for ""real-world"" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy. " I can only presume that someone thinks I am a bot or something. I have a HUGE portion of the AH market for scrolls and I regularly list almost every scroll twice a day on my banker alt. Because of this, I also buy huge quantities of mats. I'll regularly buy out entire stocks of items. I've emailed them, but I think calling is going to be my best bet. This is really irritatin

Skyshattered!

I've been working on Netherwing rep (currently revered) via dailies. It takes around 30 minutes each morning to get though all the quests. Anyway, once you hit honored, you get a change to fly against 6 opponents in a race. The first 4 are fairly easy, the fifth is a little difficult and the sixth, Skyshatter, takes many attempts and a bit of luck. 7 attempts later and I have it! Some hints: zoom all the way out, learn his route and fly slightly above him. The main part that wiped me was near the end where he flies very high over a mountain - be sure to stay high up or he'll get too far away.

Quick Update: Midsummer and gold

I finished up all of the Midsummer achievements on the very last day (Sunday). Technically this means I'm still in the running to finish in a year. Gold generation is going well. I'm at 11,000g in cash with huge stockpiles of enchanting mats and scrolls and a large collection of blue and epic items I bought to resell. I'm ignoring the JC market - enchanting keeps me busy enough. Crusader scrolls are selling very quickly. I'm having to list 3 at a time to keep up with demand. I'm making 150g profit on each one too :)

Market Oppertunity in Fish Feasts?

I wonder why they spike so much on Saturdays. At any rate, I'll be flipping a few stacks on Saturday (probably as singles)

+4 to all stats

Gold grinding is still going well. I only sold a single 500g+ scroll yesterday (Typically I'll sell 2-3) but I sold a lot of 10g-20g profit items. I'm getting close top the point where I have three of every enchant on the AH at all times. Once I get there, I'll be able start collecting gold without immediately spending it on more inventory again. One special thing of note: I picked up the +4 to all stats enchant yesterday from the AH. I'd been looking for several weeks and I'd never found it (it's a world drop with a really low drop rate). They seem to be selling right now for 130g each, costing 30g to make. Total price paid? 20g buyout!

Gold, Gold, Gold

Gold generation is going well. I originally planned to take on several markets at once - Jewelcrafting and Enchanting Scrolls. I've come to realise that I don't have the resources to do both. My primarly focus is, therefore, on enchanting. My goals have changed slightly as well - I plan to have 3 of every single profitable scroll in my inventory, with 2 on the AH at all times. I plan to only spend a few minutes per day posting and relisting and to craft twice a week - Wednesday and Saturday mornings. I am using Quick Auctions 2 to manage the pricing and relisting of the enchanting scrolls, with the threshold set to guarantee a profit at all times. I keep my fallback slightly lower than the existing competition's normal prices in order to drive them out of the market. And I don't undercut by a copper - it's often by 5g or more. Again, my goal is to make the market hostile to everyone who isn't me. 3 of every enchant in the game is a lot of inventory - somet

Enchanting update and plan for more Molten Core

I'm going to spend some time in Molten Core this week to get my rep up and to farm materials for Thorium Brotherhood revered (needed for a couple of enchanting recipes). I also want to pick up the spellpower enchant. I am also going to round out my old-world enchants this week. Crusader and Fiery are selling extremely well, so much so that I've started to list 3 at a time on the AH instead of my usual two since they often sell out before I can repost. In absolute terms, I'm only making 15-20g or so per fiery, but in percentage terms, it's great. Here is an excellent guide to BOA enchants that I'm currently following: http://theahpile.blogspot.com/2010/05/boa-enchanting-guide.html

Chef's Hat

"I did 100 days of dailies AFTER the dailies for Chef's title, and all I got was this lousy hat!"

The benefits of mispricing

By complete accident, I posted some solid stone in my inventory at a truly ridiculous price. I think I tried to set the price per unit and wound up pricing a unit the same price as an entire stack. Anyway, it sold. I guess it shows that some people will buy anything.

Going for every enchanting recipe

My "endgame" goal with enchanting is to have every single enchant in the game available on the AH at all times. Since it's free to post enchants (other than the 1-2 seconds of extra time) there is little downside in having a "long tail" inventory so long as I keep my thresholds higher than the materials cost. There are several enchants that look crappy right now because the scrolls sell for much less than the market price of the mats. Quick Auctions simply won't post these, so there is no real cost to me for having these lying around. If demand DOES increase, I'll already be there, covering it. It's worth noting that I plan on making all of the low level enchants available, albeit at a huge markup. I am not selling an enchant for less than 10g and the mats cost me (including vellums and AH cut of 5%) around 5g. For the lowest level enchants I'll simply keep 3 up at all times, with 20g fallback, 10g threshold and a 10s undercut. I had anothe

Flipping pets on Alliance

While I have been focusing heavily on getting my enchanting business up and running, I thoguht it would be worthwhile to briefly post on my first foray into the Alliance side fo the AH. Last week, I picked up one of the Horde-side Argent tournament pets from a guy in trade. He was asking 400g and I offered 312g. (Market price horde-side is around 420g). I moved it to a level 1 alt on the alliance side via the neutral AH and flipped it quite quickly for 650g. I then scanned the AH using auctioneer to find arbitrage oppertunities and wound up loading up on cheap level 45-ish epics for 80g each, a few very good twink blues in the range of 20g-30g each and 4 stacks of Northern Spices for 35g each. Out of sheer dumb luck, someone had bought all the spices out horde side, and I managed to flip all four stacks for 235g a stack. The epics all sold for around 400g each with only one relist and most of the blues have also sold for around 200g each. The gold per hour is ridiculous and I pla

Gold, SSC and Argent Dawn

Most of my efforts have been focused on either raiding or generating gold this week. I'll start with the non-gold stuff: I hit exalted with the Argent Dawn by running my wife's alt through Undead Stratholme a bunch of times. No mount dropped, alas. I also did living side, mostly for the Righteous Orbs to sell for the Crusader enchant. I also did some random BC raids, including killing Lady Vashj in SSC. She's much easier at 80 :) On the gold front, I am finally getting a solid system together. I'd like to do all of my crafting 1-2 days a week since it takes up so much time. My biggest sticking point was actually getting enough vellums at a decent price. In the end, I got some guild scribes to help me out but for the future, I've decided to level up a scribe solely to help me get cheap vellums. (The markup on the AH is insane - 800% or more.) Tankspiral, my new level 58 Deathknight, is now my new scribe. Enchants are selling well but I feel like I need to be

Auction House and Gold Generation for Achievements

I have little in the way of achievements to report just now. Almost all of my focus has been on getting a good cash-generating system in place so that I can simply follow a quick process every day and make solid profits. My gold generation is coming along very well. I am currently working on an MBA in Finance and one of the most contentious issue is "Does the efficient market hypothesis hold true in the real world?" In other words, is it possible to make long-term, sustainable profits at a rate higher than the amount of risk you take. (roughly). In this experiment, all I can say is a resounding "yes". People are lazy and will pay a lot for convenience it seems. A quick status update: I have 3000g on my main (Deathspiral), 3 of every single enchanting scroll that is profitable on my alt poster (around 50 different scrolls, so 150 total) and an alt that is completely full of jewelcrafting mats. I also have lots of high-quality blues and epics on the AH. Oh, and

Grinding Argent Dawn, plus Netherwing and Jewelcrafting

I'm 14000/21000 argent dawn and I plan on getting exalted today (I'm running my wife's lowbie though UD strat). I ditched mining and went jewelcrafting. I'm sitting at 421/450 util I get enough tokens to make a profitable meta cut and then I'll cap it out. My enchanting scrolls auction system is going very well. Once I build up my cash reserves a little more, I should be at the point where I have two of every profitable enchanting scroll on the AH all of the time. Doing all of this AH grinding has made me wonder if the skills are transferable to the real world. Because of WoW, I've recently started a web business with a heavy reliance on computerized automation. I think it could do very well, and the startup costs are almost nil. The simple act of planning out every step in a process and making it as efficient as possible (for AH gold generation) has really made me aware of places in the real world where similar strategies could work.

20 Reputations!

I picked up Cenarion Circle soon after Loremaster. I went from honored to exalted in one day with Scryers due to extremely luck in the auction house: 49 Arcane tomes were listed for 220g buyout! I'm currently working on Netherwing dailies as well as any others I can fit in.

Getting set up for gold generation

I did some research last night and I realised that the enchanting market on my server is highly inefficient. Many good scrolls were missing entirely and the ones that _were_ there were selling for at least a 100% markup with very little competition. Let's start with the basics. We make money when we sell an item for more than its cost. "Cost" is misunderstood however, since many people don't seem to understand that it should include opportunity cost as well as the actual gold cost of an item. I'll start with a simple example: Let's say that I decide to sell a limited supply recipe from Winterspring such as the Healing Potion recipe ( http://www.wowhead.com/item=13446/major-healing-potion ). I would take a portal to org, run to the flightmaster, fly to winterspring, run to the vendor and pay 10s if there is an item in stock, then I'd recall and head to the AH to list it. It would cost (I think) 1 silver to list (which I'd get back if it sells) and

Making gold for achievements.

Yesterday, I realised I needed around 60 thousand gold to buy all of the items required for my achievements. This means things like a Mechanohog (12,500+) and a mammoth (15,000 or so). In addition to all of this, I need to pick up huge numbers of sunfury signets and other items that I really don't want to have to farm. I also want to dump mining for jewelcrafting since the stat bonuses ar emuch better. Finally, when cataclysm comes out, I want to hit the profession caps as soon as possible. In short: I'm tired of being concerned about gold. So, as part of this project, I'm going to pick up at least 100,000g before the end of the year. Here are my current resources: I have about 650g in the bank and a few hundred gold in auctions. I have 450 enchanting and 450 mining. I have solid PVP and PVE egar sets. That's about it. I'm going to go through all my bags and my bank and sell off everything that I don't need and then I'll get started on my plan. M

Loremaster!

Finally! I'm tired, so a  full writeup will have to wait until tomorrow, but I finally got the damn thing!

3000 Quests complete!

It's all coming together today :) I found a missing quest chain in Feralas thanks to Everyquest that pushed me over the 3000 limit. Loremaster is less than 20 away now! The Barrens had a lot of singles from mob drops as well.

Childrens Week!

Finally. The PVP achievements were actually suprisingly easy - I one-shot all of them. The biggest problem was simply getting AB to pop. I've heard that simply doing randoms is better.

Childrens week is simple, except...

All I need for Childrens Week is a single AB to pop and to cap a flag. This would seem easy, except... 3+ hours and still no AB.

The Explorer

I finally picked up World Explorer. Still working on Loremaster and Childrens Week - I've only had an hour or so in the past week to do any of this due to RL pressures. Soon!

Definitely NOT Loremaster

Doubtless, you'll notice a distinct lack of Loremaster screenshots today. I have completed exactly ONE quest since I last posted. I didn't play at all over the weekend as we had some friends staying from Friday until late on Sunday. I woke up this morning, intending to at least put a dent in the list only to spend my time doing arena with my 2's partner instead. I'll probably do Childrens Week tonight (seems fairly easy) and I have a goal of getting 25 quests completed for Loremaster as well. Hopefully I'll finish soon. I'm also going to start on my rep grind, with Ogrila and the Skylords as my first targets. (I need 5 daily quests with my orphan out for Childrens Week anyway...) Finally, my hope is that Chldrens Week will help my rep a little as well. According to Joshua "I'm sure you've got to do it anyways, but childrens week give a bit of lower city rep, and I believe oracle rep too." Thanks for the heads up!

The only person to beat Bejeweled 2

http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/bejeweled-2-deluxe/news/opinion-man-beats-bejeweled-2-after-three-years-was-it-worth-it/a-2010043014175972070/g-2005120714414257238769 And I thought beating WoW was tough... This guy beat Bejeweled 2 after 3 years of playing. He got so far that his score reset itself. I like the mention of Little Gray in the article too: "It's an achievement, certainly, but we do have to wonder where you draw a line between impressive and worrying. Leyde isn't the only man to sacrifice hours of his life in order to accomplish in-game feats that would make weaker men tremble. A few months ago, Taiwanese World of Warcraft player "Little Gray" made headlines by "beating" Blizzard's popular MMO, collecting 986 Achievements to officially beat WoW before the next expansion. In order to beat it, Little Gray killed 390,895 creatures, dealt 7,255,538,878 points of damage, completed 5,906 quests, raided 405 dungeons and hugged 11 p

Plan for may - Reputations

Now that Loremaster is almost done (I should finish tomorrow, hopefully) it's time to start looking at my goal for the next month: getting as many reputations as possible to exalted. wowjuju.com has an excellent reputation calculator that is customized to your character. I took a look at every faction I need that has their own achievement and that wasn't already at exalted. I'm developing a plan for daily quests and dungeon runs based on this information. NORTHREND The Oracles - 301/21000 (Revered) The Oracles have 3 daily quests yeilding a total of 1700 reputation per day. This means that in 13 days I'll be exalted (and I can then switch to frenzyheart) The Kalu'ak - 2740/21000 (Revered) The Kalu'ak have 3 daily quests (in 3 different zones) yeilding 1500 rep per day. Again, 13 days and I'll be exalted (and get a sweet fishing pole!) THE BURNING CRUSADE Ashtongue Deathsworn - 685/6000 (Friendly) 6 Full clears of Black Temple will help me

Classic Dungeonmaster

I have to run, but I just wanted to show my current progress. Classic Dungeonmaster is done and I still think that I can get the 124 reaminin quests done for Loremaster over the next 2 days.

Slow going on the questing front

135 Kalimdor quests to go. It seems like each quest involves a lot of travelling. I still think I can finish by Friday night or Saturday morning but it's going to be tight. Note that I am deliberately trying to complete an entire zone before moving on to the next - I feel this is faster than simply going after all the "easy" quests first then backtracking.

525/685 Loremaster of Kalimdor

Still on track to finish by the 30th as planned. 160 quests in Kalimdor to go! I'll have The Seeker and The Explorer titles too. Also, (finally), I got a solid Beast Mastery Hunter for 2's today. Hit 1300 and got my wrathful belt. I really feel we can hit 1800 with ease and 2200 if we push it. Enhance Shaman + BM hunter is a lot of fun - very fast games.

Classic Raider!

Finally completed Classic raider (all old-world raids) by getting into an AQ40 group. As you can see, I died inside Cthun's stomach as a result of the raid being too eager to pull the boss (most people were still outside). Comically, there is no way to get rezzed in the inside of a boss... As for Loremaster, I am down to my last 200 quests. I still think I can be finished by April 30th.

Slow Going in Silithus

I'm at 442/685 quests for Loremaster of Kalimdor (and Loremaster overall). It's slow going. I'm averaging around 7 minutes per quest - a far cry from the 2 minutes or so it takes to do a netherstorm one. At this rate, I'm looking at a bit under 29 hours of questing :( Never underestimate Kalimdor - everyone has told me it's the worst one to get Loremaster for, and they are right.

The 25 most evil achievements in the game (wow.com - part 1)

Aaron said...     I'm curious on if you have plans for the achievements posted on wow.com today? This list immediately made me think of your blog.     http://www.wow.com/2010/04/15/the-overachiever-the-25-most-evil-achievements-part-1/ Here is my take on these: 25. We Had It All Along *cough* This involves winning AB 1600-1590. I actually thought I already had this one, but it looks like I don't. It's tough. I plan on working on this in July which is the month that I plan to devote entirely to battlegrounds. I'll need to get a premade to do it. Our plan is to cap farm and hold it until the opposition reaches 340 and then cap blacksmith, Lumber Mill and Gold Mine quickly after that, following up with Stables for the 5-cap if needed. To do this right, you need 15 very geared players and Ventrilo but it's certainly possible. 24. The Cake Is Not A Lie I picked this one up on January 2nd. It's pretty horrible since it's pure RNG. 23. BB King

Loremaster of Outland

I wound up being busy on Saturday so this had to wait until Sunday. I just have around 250 Kalimdor quests to go now. Netherstorm is a very fast zone to quest in, despite the 120 quests required for the achiveement. The quests are almost entirely in that zone and no other and for the most part are simple, especially at 80. There is lots of Consortium rep to be had here, as well as a lot of Scryers - both very helpful for getting 40 Exalted Reputations.

6000!

I broke 6000 achievement points this morning. It looks like I'm on track to finish all of the Outlands quests by tomorrow. Go go Loremaster!

Resto for Arena

Despite having a full set of relentless/wrathful PVP gear for enhancement, I think it's time to bit the bullet and go resto for arenas. My decision is based on the following, very simple, data: http://www.arenajunkies.com/rankings/3v3/ There isn't a single enhance shaman in there. I already have a lot of good (ilevel 264/277) resto PVE gear so I'm happy to change things up and simply grind out a few hundred thousand honor and get a resto set (and spec) for arena play. I'll keep my enhance offspec for battlegrounds, although I may tweak it to be a little more PVE-friendly.

Still working on Netherstorm

I expect to have Netherstorm finished on Saturday, which will complete all of my Outlands quests. I'm down to my last few hundred quests in total for Loremaster (and The Seeker). The Netherstorm quests are fairly fun and I'm getting a lot of scryers rep from Sunfury Signets and Arcane Tomes as well as some Consortium rep. As for what comes next... I'm not sure. I know I need to prioritize Molten Core runs since I have 22 more of those to do (and I can only do them once per week) but I'm also starting to worry about getting my arena standings up. Most of the reputation grinds seem fairly simple and they all involve roughly a months work. Should I work on PVP, picking up a resto and an elemental set to try different specs for arena? Should I focus on grinding reputations? Should I try to bust out all the Dungeons and Raids achievements as early as possible to prevent problems finding groups later? Right now, I think that post-loremaster I'll spend an hour each

Blades Edge and Shadowmoon Valley complete!

I am done with Blades Edge Mountains and I also did the full 90 quests for Shadowmoon Valley. This included all of the Netherwing "starter" quests so now I can start the rep grind for this faction. I have 120 quests to complete in Netherstorm and 210 in Kalimdor and I'll have Loremaster.

Blades Edge Mountains

If you are having trouble getting all the quests in Blades Edge Mountains, don't forget to get the Damaged Mask questline (9 quests) which drops from a pair of Fel Corrupters at 70,35. I almost missed this one.

ICC10 and Noblegarden

Noblegarden is complete. After I found the dress, it was all pretty easy - even finding a dwarf female wasn't too tough. We worked on 10 ICC yesterday and for the first time extended lockout timer so we would start after the first 6-7 bosses. It was well worth it. We 1-shot everything to Sindragosa and, hopefully, both she and Lich King will fall next week.

Overachiever mod - use it for Noblegarden!

I already posted about using the Overachiever Mod but I just wanted to mention it again now that I'm working on the Shake Your Bunny Maker achievement. Simply mouse over groups of people and anyone you still need to shake your spring flowers at (!) will show up in red. It's also still excellent for the achievements involving slaying pests and the like too.

1123 eggs later...

I finally got the RNG to drop my Elegant Dress . This was a truly horrible grind. The dress is supposed to have a 0.5% drop rate (1 in 200 eggs, on average) so I was supremely unlucky not to get one until over 1000 eggs. Even after my 1000th egg, I was perfectly aware that I still only had a 1 in 200 chance to get the dress on my next cracking of an egg. The first few days went well, with lots of achievements getting completed (I got the pet early and was feeling happy that the achievement wouldn't take long) but then slow realization crept in: the dress would never drop! I did most of my grinding in Falconwing Square. When the area was busy, it's possible to camp in a few areas and be within reach of 5 eggs or so. When it's quiet, there is a nice circular path that you can take (with the speed boost) and can collect several eggs in a minute. Once I passed 400 eggs however, I started to waver. In the eng, I just set a goal of opening 100 eggs and then quitting to do somethi

Lil' Game Hunter

75 Pets bitches! This one was fairly difficult and involved a lot of other achievements before getting there, including the exalted with Sporeggar one, Higher Learning and others. I was sitting on 74, waiting for my Jubling to hatch when I realized that I could simply add an authenticator to my account and be finished. Kick ass!

Higher Learning

This one took a lot of checking. I used the guide here: http://www.warcraftpets.com/guides/pets/kirin_tor.asp which was excellent and then I simply checked every few hours. I'm up to pet number 74 as well, with a Jubling waiting to hatch, so I'll get the 75 pet achievement this week. Other than that, I've just been cursing the poor RNG nature of the Noblegarden achievement - I'm still waiting on a Spring Dress after several hundred eggs.

Pretty much sum up my arena progress

Yeah, a game where we both lost.

Sporeggar!

I got exalted with Sporeggar this morning, netting me a pet and a tabard as well as the achievement. In the end, I caved and bought the last few sanguine hibiscus from the AH. They weren't much - 200g for all that I needed. I'm refocusing on getting the Loreaster achievements completed and I worked on them for an hour this morning. I'm currently in Dragonspine in Outland, which is probably my least favourite zone because of all the flying needed to move around (as well as the fact that the lore seems... tacked on somehow). I expect to finish the zone over the weekend. I also got some PVP in. It's WSG weekend so I plan on trying to get in as many games as possible since rep is easier to farm on BG Holidays. Noblegarden is coming up this weekend as well. I've read the guides and it seems straightforward - gather lots and lots of eggs and hope to get lucky with drops. Only buy the items you need after you have gathered all the eggs you will ever want to avoid buying so

UBRS, BWL, AQ20 and Sporeggar

Yesterday was interesting. We completely failed to get 25ICC going, leading me to get saved to a raid without getting more than a single badge. Instead, we ran Upper Black Rock Spire and picked up the Leeeeeroy title, the UBRS achievement and attunement to BWL. We then 4-5 manned BWL, wiping on chromaggus once due to mind controls. Note: even at 80, Nefarion and any other boss with long mind-control abilities is tough! Next, we ran (and finished, and got the achievement for) AQ20, picking up a bunch of rep with the cenarion circle. We also did some AQ40 leading to me getting a mount and some Brood of Nozdormu rep. Note: 4 level 80's aren't enough to run AQ40, especially as a pug. It's probably possible, but it's not going to be a speed run if you try it. Finally, I got some PVP in and worked on Sporeggar rep - I need another 7 turnins at 750 rep each to get exalted for the achievement, the pet and the tabard. I expect to get this finished today (Tuesday didn't happe

Sporeggar and BC heroics

Lots done this weekend. I picked up a stack of BC heroics this weekend which led to a lot of rep for most of the BC factions and, of course, many achievements. I'm currently grinding Sporeggar rep through a combination of sangine hibiscus turnins and "Now that we're still friends..." repeatable quests. It's 750 rep per turnin of either of these and I'm at around 7000/21000 into revered (I was friendly at the start of the weekend). I expect to be done tomorrow. Gringing heroic underbog is the most efficient way to get rep, since this also gives Cenarion Expedition rep which I need as well. The rewards of a tabard and a pet will both help with other achievements, and the rep is needed for three reputation-related achievements as well.

Nearly there with pets.

I picked up 40-something pets today. I have 8 to go for the achievement. I could just buy them from the AH at a total cost of about 2000g but I'm aware that I get several from other achievements anyway so that seems wasteful. The 8 that I plan to get are: 43. Nether Ray Fry (Skyguard exalted) 44. Tiny Sporebat (Sporeggar exalted) 45. Nurtured Penguin Egg (The Kalu'ak exalted) 51. Kirin Tor Familiar (Higher Learning) 64. Magical Crawdad Box (Fishing, Mr. Pinchy - going to take a while :/) 30. Tranquil Mechanical Yeti (buy from an engineer - Engineering 250) 31. Lifelike Mechanical Toad (buy from an engineer - Engineering 265) And then any one of the following: 63. Mojo (Zul'Aman, Amani Hex Stick) (Technically not an achievement, but I'll be in there a bunch anyway to get rep.) 69. Phoenix Hatchling (Magisters' Terrace, 1 in 16 off Kael'thas) (ditto) 66. Sprite Darter Egg (Feralas, grind mobs for 30 minutes) 67. Cat Carrier (Black Tabby) (Silverpine Forest, Horde

Lil' Game hunter

I'm going to work on "Lil' Game Hunter" this weekend. I decided to compile a list of all the pets that can be obtained and restrict it to the 75 easiest. I'll update this post with a (*) next to each I get. My plan is to buy all of the vendor ones first, then pick up the cheap (<500g) ones from the AH, then get the easy-to-quest ones and then grind for the rest. I compiled this list from data from wowhead.com Easiest 75 pets to get for Lil' Game Hunter Achievement: Vendor Items (Both Factions): 1. Ghostly Skull (Dalaran) 2. Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling (Netherstorm) 3. Brown Rabbit Crate (Netherstorm) 4. Cat Carrier (Siamese) (Netherstorm) 5. Mana Wyrmling (Netherstorm) 6. Red Moth Egg (Netherstorm) 7. Cokroach (Netherstorm) 8. Crimson Snake (Netherstorm) 9. Parrot Cage (Cokatiel) (Stranglethorn Vale) 10. Parrot Cage (Senegal) (Stranglethorn Vale) 11. Ancona Chicken (Thousand Needles) (I think there were new vendor items in 3.3
