[2,777 of 3,980] Shadowlands Flying and more

Sunday morning: I finished my Korthika dailies in about fifteen minutes and scrolled through the list of achievements looking for something simple. [Timeless Champion] was almost complete so I used my trinket to head in that direction. I have four rares left to kill. First up was the Great Turtle Furyshell - you get it to spawn by lilling non-rare turtles on the west coast of Timeless Isle. Spelurk wasn't up when I checked and I dislike having to wait around for spawns.  I ended up hearthing and going to The Maw where I did both dailies and the Venthyr assault. Monday evening, I did layer nine of Skoldus Hold in Torghast which gave me [The Box of Many Things] and [Touring Torghast]. Oddly, I didn't get [Skoldus Hold] which seems like a bug to me. I suppose it's time to do my professions. To recap: Alchemy - Zandalari and Shadowlands - use Huntspiral Blacksmithing - Legion (87 to 100) onwards. Use Warspiral. Enchanting - Done. Engineering - Done. (Not showing up - check Dem

Monday morning: at a loss for what to work on next, I simply grabbed the next item in the achievements UI - Wyrmrest Temple. I picked up [Rapid Defense] without many issues other than Bartender4 and the WoW vehicle UI conflicting. Since I was here, I headed down to the pet tamer to work on my Elekk Plushie achievement. I'm skipping the Frenzyheart until I get my Green Proto Drake from the Oracles' egg (pick one up every three days via the Northrend engineering wormhole), so next on my list is Deepholm for the "Glop, son of Glop" quest. Or it would be, except it doesn't seem to be up today, dammit. Perhaps Lost in the Deeps is up instead? It wasn't. Alas. Fungal Fury was also not up. Maybe Restless Brood? Nope. Tuesday morning and I can't play because 9.1 is coming out. Over the next few days I do all the main quests to unlock being able to use a mount (so much for the one I unlocked already...) as well as all the dailies and the "assault". The n

[2,742 of 3,900] All Eastern Kingdom Quests Complete!

Wednesday morning: The AH finally had some Strange Volcanic Sediment in stock so I was able to finish the 14-week achievement [Periodic Destruction] finally! Next, the three dailies for my companion. I picked up a Zanjir Weapon Rack toy while doing this.  Searching for something different, I did a few Broken Shore dailies to be able to contribute to the Command Table there. It looks like I have quite a way to go on these - I need 50 contributions to each of three buildings and I've only done about 1/3 of that. It takes 4-5 dailies to get enough supplies for a single contribution so I'm looking at 400 to 500 dailies spread across 150 to 300 days (because there are only a dozen or so dailies available per day).  I'd planned on doing these while I did the Sentinax achievements (Naxt Victim) - I suppose it's time for me to figure out the mechanics of those and get started with them. Next, I did Dragon Soul to help my wife get her legendary daggers.  Thursday morning and I

[2,737 of 3,900] An Epic Campaign!

Friday morning: I started out on my Demon Hunter, working on ten world quests for the campaign. This is near the end of it all - there are only a few more steps and then I'll have all five class campaigns finished. Saturday morning: I only have a few minutes so I decided to work on my cooking. I need to make fifty Galley Banquet. Sadly the AH is out of a couple of the fish so I need to go farm them (or I can just wait until another day). Off to fish some Tiragarde Perch! I picked up [Zandalari Fisherman] soon after, then /love'ed a couple of critters for the "squirrels" achievement. Sunday morning: I fished up some more Perch and then went to the AH for the rest of the Galley Banquet supplies. I still need a decent number more Perch to finish it off but the only ones left on the AH are 1000X what they usually cost so I'll wait. Not sure what to do next, I headed off to do another days worth of Shado Pan dailies. I'm so happy that I have the special teleport P

[2,731 of 3,900] Direhorn and exploration achievements

I did my Direhorn dailies (1 more day to go!) and then decided to work on something different. Firing up my achievements list, I saw that I'd yet to kill the Whale Shark in Vashj'ir, so off I went. [From Hell's Heart I Stab at Thee] was mine! I felt like doing another "exploration" achievement and so spent a pleasant fifteen minutes in Nazmir frog hunting for [Hoppin' Sad]   For bonus points, I hunted for a couple of critters to /love. Wednesday morning started with a jaunt to visit my Child of Torcali. After a fun questline, I've finally managed to pick up [How to Train Your Direhorn]! Next, to Naz'jatar where once again I don't have a Stronge Oceanic Sediment to finish my quest. My last puzzle for [Puzzle Performer] is also missing, so I just did the bodyguard dailies. I hung around at 9am for [Back to the Depths!] but it didn't spawn, even seven minutes later. I headed over to Siltstalker the Packmother with the hope of spawning Banescale t

[2,725 of 3,900] Oldschool raids and dungeons

First up, Naz'jatar to get Periodic Destruction. It's taken fourteen weeks to get this achievement and I'm ready to put it to bed. Except... I can't finish because I'm missing a Strange Oceanic Sediment. I head to the AH. Sold out! I've checked every day since for a week and there isn't a single one on the AH. This achievement is driving me nuts :) I've been active in working on getting my Direhorn mount. I completed the daily every day this week and I'l only two days from completion now (14th June, 2021). At the same time, I check for a rare that I need every day but so far he's never there. I finished the hunter campaign on saturday. My wife helped a bunch at the end to complete the final dungeon without a group. I'm glad to be done - trying to remember how to play so many different classes is a pain. My strong preference is to do every achievement on my Shaman wherever possible, even if another class is better suited. Naz'jatar dailie

[2,709 of 3,900] A Heroic Campaign!

May 3rd: Anyway, I'm sticking to my plan of doing the three class hall campaigns that I'm still missing. My Rogue is doing well and is pretty far along. My hunter is further behind but still making progress. Both are at the point where they need to complete several 2-hour missions and so I've parked them at the mission table and am logging in every few hours to complete another one. My Demon Hunter is just starting to get back into the process. I've got my professions figured out and I'll be doing those next, but I wanted to start to make my heritage armor classes now so that I can park them in Org for the rested bonus. One thing to note about leveling up heritage armor classes is that Monks get Enlightenment, which gives a 50% boost to exp from quests. I still want to have a druid, but most of my new characters will be monks for this bonus. May 30th: I've not been interested in playing recently. This happens a lot when I draw up a complicated plan involving ma

[2,707 of 3,900] Legion class hall, professions and alts.

While I was in Torghast, I realised that my engineering was sorely lacking. Specifically, I didn't have a Jeeves or AutoHammer to repair. I'm off to Ulduar to get the Jeeves schematic now. It took only a few kills to get the schematic, and about twenty minutes in Org to find enough supplies to craft the Jeeves. Next up: the auto-hammer schematic. A quick hearth to Dalaran and then a flight to Aszuna. Quick quest. I worked on my Vulpera warrior, finishing up several quests in the Legion Class Hall questline and getting her closer to 50 for the achievement (halfway through 48 now). I did the daily, gaining exalted with the Court of Harvesters, then did maw quests, gaining Cordial reputation with Ve'nari. On Thursday I finished the class hall for my Vulpera Warrior, then on Friday I hit 50 after doing the Shadowlands intro quests and I picked up my heritage armor for [Heritage of the Vulpera]. One down, nine to go :/ From looking at my other classes, I already have a level 45

[2,701 of 3,900] Twisting Corridors: Layer 8

Holy fucking shit THAT took a lot of effort.   We 4-manned all eight layers of twisting corridors over the last four days. Everything was fairly easy up to layer six. Layer seven took three attempts, wiping on the boss and floor 17. The bosses are stupidly tuned. The only reason we managed to kill layer 8's boss is that we spammed fifteen smoke bombs so none of his stuff could harm us. Along the way, I picked up the missing companions for the achievement as well. In terms of strategy, we had a druid tank, a rogue and a druid DPS along with myself. The biggest issue early on was me pulling aggro from the tank on large pulls - I was doing a sustained 300K DPS on large pulls. The other main issue were traps and just general inattention. The runs are grueling. It takes two hours per layer, so at least sixteen hours if you never wipe. If you wipe, plan for 20+. I'm honestly done with playing wow for a day or two after all this :)

[2,693 of 3,900] Alts and The Maw

Sunday morning and the first thing I worked on was the [Exile's reach] achievement with a Tauren warrior. The new zone is well done and the pacing is just right - not too short nor too long. Next, I started on my Highmountain Tauren's quest from level 10 to level 50. Actually, scratch that - I want to quest in Legion since there is an achievement for getting the various Legion halls completed. I'm going to make a warrior to do that. [An Epic Campaign] requires five different class halls to be completed. I think I already have a start on the mage, hunter and priest class halls. I'm going to make a Vulpera Warrior and work on the Legion timewalking, with an aim of completing the class hall for Warrior (and getting to level 50). The new timewalking levelling system is a good idea, albeit a little confusing. I'm supposed to get an artifact weapon as a central plot point but it's a "legacy item" and so has no buffs? Should I bother using it at all? Heirloom

[2,686 of 3,896] Priority Mail and misc. quests

Monday morning and I'm off to Zandalar to work on How to Train Your Direhorn - something I had worked on before but not finished. I'm on the Torcali's Blessing stage and had to throw a toy for the Direhorn today. Such is the life of a Mawwalker. I hunted for the two dinosaurs for [Life Finds a Way... to Die!] but they weren't up (again) so I decided to complete a digsite to get to 832 of 950 in Archeology. I end up having to file a bug report for [To All the Squirrels I Set Sail to See] because the Crested Gekkota doesn't seem to count for the achievement when /love'ed. I then tried farming Bloodraged Pterrordax for the Pterrordax egg. I HATE farming mobs so I forced myself to do 100 and then decided to come back another day. The odds are that I'll get the egg after 2,500 kills although obviously it could take longer. Monday evening and I'm back killing another 150 Pterrordaxes. Oddly, I've noted that the whole place is full of level 11 to 19 players

[2,678 of 3,896] Lots of little things

I accidentally queued for a heroic dungeon on Monday night instead of a battleground. I decided to stay in the run and picked up [Spires of Ascension] and [Heroic: Spires of Ascension] by accident :) Tuesday morning hits and there is nothing in the weekly chest for me (again) so I grab 750 stygia. This is kind of lame as I lost 2,500 in the Maw yesterday trying to get into Perdition Hold without the questline being complete to access it. [Prepare For Trouble] was obtained, but at great cost. Sending my adventurers out - I'm focusing on XP-granting adventures primarily, with anima being a second goal. I've unlocked a level 46 mission to upgrade my adventure campaign but all my people are at level 30, so I'm way behind. Next up, The Maw.  I got almost half a bar of reputation from the daily/weekly quests as well as picking up [Handling His Henchmen].  Perhaps more importantly, I built a Wormhole Generator: Shadowlands Why didn't I make one of these sooner?! It can telep

[2,670 of 3,896] Epic

I'm wasting an absolutely enormous amount of time flying between Oribus and Sinfall in Revendreth. Getting 10,000 anima to get the Oribus portal is my current top priority. I'm at 3,638 of 10,000 at the moment. Adventures are a good source of anima for me, but I need to balance pure anima runs with gaining more experience so I can unlock bigger rewards. I'm going to focus on doing the Bastion calling first, theen search for any and all +anima dailies to boost it further. It's a double battlegrounds week, with two weeklies requiring battlegrounds (and another for the weekly brawl) so I have a fair amount of PVP to play today. I lost a couple of battlegrounds (but picked up Four Square!) and then headed to the Maw with my wife to work on rep. After doing the dailies, I ended up heading into Torghast again to do the quest that unlocks twisting corridors. Holy crap those are difficult - the floor 18 boss almost wiped us. It's stupidly long as well - who has a spare thre

[2,664 of 3,896] Something's Not Quite Right...

Off to Ardenweald today, as I have both "Training in Ardenweald" and "A Call to Ardenweald" as my callings. Although I planned to do daily quests, I ended up starting to do some of the quests for Sojourner of Ardenweald instead. I completed the first section of that before picking up a new pet (Gorn Harrier) from a dead body. One of my addons (Overachiever, I think), pointed out that the Tough Crowd daily quest had an achievement associated with it that I'd yet to complete. (Something's Not Quite Right...) According to Wowhead, the simplest way to get the achievement is to install the "idTip" addon and then check the NPCs for the id of "170080" Simple enough :) I started playing again after six pm, focusing on finishing my two covenants and then clearing out some adventures. I finally have a decent stable of adventurers and I'm working on the higher-level campaign quests now - the current one has a pet as a reward. Since I'm alre

[2,661 of 3,896] Toybox Tycoon and 100 Exalted Reputations!

I did a weekly LFR run to get an item from the cache next week, then did one of the Warlords timewalking dungeons for the 500 Timewarped Badges. Doing this led me to find two toys I'd yet to pick up, leading to the Toybox Tycoon (400 toys) achievement, which grants a new battle pet! I didn't have enough badges to collect the mount I'm missing from the same vendor - hopefully I'll get that next time. This morning, I went to finish up my Rajani rep and I collected a missing pet (Wild Crimson Hatchling) along the way. The rep was easy enough to get and netted me both The Rajani and (much more awesome) 100 Exalted Reputations! I camped The Forgotten (https://www.wowhead.com/npc=157176/the-forgotten#comments) for a bit, hoping for the pet but was disappointed again. I really hate rares that both have long respawn timers and low drop rates :( I did, however, manage to pick up a rare version of the Golden Chirper pet. This pet spawns in exactly one location in the vale at any

[2,643 of 3,896] First legendary and 20 Renown

I took a break after launch to play the wonderful Cyberpunk 2077 and generally enjoy the holidays. I've gotten back into the game recently and am finding it fun so far. I think some of the campaign quests are a little too formulaic, with too many "collect 15 bear asses" variants but overall the xpac seems better than BFA. My main focus right now is on keeping myself somewhat competitive so that I can do mythics with guild members if it comes up. Having good gear also helps with regular questing; it's such a grind to do quests with low-end gear. Right now I'm focusing on doing all the campaign quests (I'm at 20 renown) and doing two high-level Torghasts each week, as well as LFR.
I didn't get to play much yesterday - it took over three hours after 3pm PST just to get logged on. Into the Maw was my first Shadowlands achievement.  I'm now following the story quests. They seem decently written and tightly bound but very, very linear. There is almost zero feeling of player choice or agency here and everyone does exactly the same thing. Kyrian looks much the same as it did when I played it at Blizzcon over a year ago. It feels like Argus to me, albeit lighter. Fun zone. Really like the quests and the feel of the place. Good pacing, not too grindy. The Path To Ascension was next.

[2,658 of 3,896] Champion of the Covenant

Not much to say here. Ever since I got my legendary to rank four, I've mostly just been logging on to do my weekly renown quests, send out my adventurers and occasionally do a wing of LFR for the weekly reward, plus a little PVP if it's a Battlegrounds/ Epic Battlegrounds week. With Valor now out in the latest patch I'll likely do enough to upgrade my gear to a higher ilevel (190 at the moment) and probably work on some of my reputations again. I can't seem to bring myself to care about my Venthyr faction stuff like the stupid tea party quests. I think a lot of this is that without flying, travel times are enormous, especially because of the way that Oribus and our sanctums are so far apart from each other so my morning seems to always involve spending five minutes staring at the screen until I land at another flight point. I think the solution to all of this is for me to revisit some of the old content from last xpac and finish up my reps there to hit "100 Reput
