[2,611 of 3,885] Secret Fish, Heroic Darkshore and more

Saturday evening: I bought 220 Tidespray Bracers at 80g each to complete Full of Scrap! What a horrible achievement, especially since I'm an enchanter and seeing all that stuff go to waste was depressing. I then ended up in a random transmog hunt with my wife, leading to us completing Three Faced, one of the small number of non-soloable dungeon achievements. It's actually quite difficult, since it needs two players that know what they are doing *and* a way to slow the souls without causing them any damage. Soul Power and Doesn't Go To Eleven were easier. I then headed to Naz'jatar to kill Tidemistress Leth'sindra . It's an interesting rare since she is summoned by clicking on five egg sacs, which is why I never had her ping my NPCScan before. I still have fifteen more rares to kill before I get I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare? Tideloard Aquatus was next - another summonable rare. Someone had already killed two of the three guys needed to summon him so it w

Wednesday morning: Sorted out AH stuff - bought gunshoes and healing potions, sold as much as possible. Found a Medium Orange Chest for Puzzle Performer. Note that this one, like the blue one, showed up for the macro on Wowhead but wasn't in the spot that it should have been. In both cases it was in the "easy" spot instead of the "medium" one. Anyway, I only have one more of these to go! Did the three emissary quests and picked up Seasoned: Neri Sharpfin. My others are at rank 9 and 11 so I'm now a third of the way through this achievement - hopefully I'll finish around the same time as I get Puzzle Performer. Afterwords, I spent some time hunting for rares and items for the "biggest bag" achievement. As an aside, this is a fantastic Shadowlands TODO guide: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTuGw0mW-s2nKPaiunMQsAK2CiX8w0ULLCMD8-ymgpIfxQ5veiv-iwHZlcDF8oC4PwRulspZxO4Ndcd/pubhtml# Evening: I started in Mechagon and was about to heart

[2,598 of 3,884] Tiragarde Sound and stuff

Monday evening: I tried out the wow beta a few days ago and was unimpressed with the Night Fae special ability, especially since we have Ghost Wolf. Looking at the other covenants, I think that Venthyr makes the most sense for an Elemental Shaman as the chainheal/lightning spell and the teleport are both excellent additions. Technically kirian has a better DPS for M+ but I want the teleport. Note to self: Elemental Equilibrium is the best raid and M+ legendary at the moment. Anyway, back to farming stuff. I picked up some extra pet tokens and then headed to Mechagon for one more quest there. I was happy to see Toys For Destruction was up which (FINALLY!) gave me Playtime's Over as a quest. Now I just need Taking the Air Out and I'll be totally finished with Outside Influences. For those unaware, it can take months to get certain quests to spawn and checking every day is tedious. 882 Polished Pet Charms now :) I went to Naz'jatar and picked up one of the few puzzle chests I

[2,595 of 3898] Shadowlands prep

Friday Evening: I checked Mechagon without luck and then got a couple of friends together to do some of the older achievements. I picked up four of the five I needed for Cataclysm Raider , including both of the Temple of the Four Winds achievements. I mis-read the Nefarion one or I'd have a shiny new mount today. I also picked up a couple of Cataclysm heroic dungeon achievements that I was missing. I'm going to try to knock out a lot of these this week - they are easy and quick and by doing so, I'll be better able to gage how much more I still need to do once all the easy stuff is done. Saturday: I did my three Naz'jatar follower dailies, then went pet charm hunting with three world quests. I deecided to clear out the pet battles in my quest log. Gnomergan was the first one - I had to defeat it in challenge mode. I found this useful from wowhead: If you're horde, the ideal, death-free way of getting to Micro Zoox is the following: - go to Grom'gol Base Camp in N

Planning for the last few days before Shadowlands

Last night I played for a little longer and picked up Scraptastic! in Mechagon (wake up and feed Scrappy the dog) and did a healf-hearted Visions of Nzoth run. I headed back to Naz'jatar to do the follower rep dailies. I took a shot at finding Underlight Sealamp from the elite naga and scored one on my very first attempt! I now need twelve more items for Give Me the Biggest Bag You've Got! Mrrl had nothing useful today, so I got in a quick pet battle for more pet charms and killed the Caverndeep Terror again in the hopes of getting the pet (no luck so far). Running out of time, I headed to the AH and spent a small fortune (average cost 1000g per item) on Three Sheets to the Wind and Sausage Sampler items. I couldn't find everything I needed so I'm going to hop on my Alliance priest when I start playing again and grab the rest from there via the AH. Mechagon Planning I have a lot of almost-finished Mechagon achievements, especially in the "exploration" category

[2,588 of 3,898] Adventure and Treasure

Yesterday evening: Bit more Shadowlands beta to look at the Vulpin ability from the Night Fae. It seems okay I guess but the teleport is minimal and the rest of the ability is like a modified ghost wolf and really not all that great. The other covenant that has the warlock teleport power may be more interesting - I need to check it out. Next up was a bit more time in Naz'jatar where I did the War Mode event and picked up some Naz'jatar Battle Commendation (need 150 for the mount, plus 30+10 for the two toys). I have 66 right now.  I also picked up Symbol of Gral for 75 Prismatic Manapearls. Worth it since I have no idea what else to spend them on. I'm up to 386 toys now - closing in fast on the 400 toy achievement! Next I went to farm for a Fathom Ray Wing, which is needed for I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare? and also gives 50 rep with two followers. I gave up after about 35 rays though - wasn't in the mood. I headed to Drustvar to get some Pet Charms - I need 100

[2,581 of 3,898] Tiragarde Sound, Scourge Event and lots of cleanup.

Two days ago: Treasures of Tiragarde Sound to start. If you do this, don't do what I did and skim the wowhead comments - read them carefully instead. You have to gather four different treasure maps from Freehold pirates before you can loot four of the treasures so, umm, do that first. Treasures took a bit of time to finish. I stopped off to buy some of the drinks needed for Three Sheets to the Wind, to kill a rare mob, to kill some Alliance and so on. Total time spent was likely almost 45 minutes in the end. My bags were almost completely full of stuff so I headed back to the AH to purge everything in them, scrap the junk (for the scrapper achievement), and to clear out my bank, since the Scourge invasion is happening tomorrow and I assume I'll want to pick up some items from it. Which reminds me, it's probably time to double check if I should prep anything for the invasion to get any one-time-only items. I have a bunch of mid-priced (20k) battle pets but all the prices on

[2,577 of 3,898] Naz'jatar and Tiregard Sound

Working on Naz'jatar achievements.  Just discovered https://www.dataforazeroth.com/characters/US/Area%2052/deathspiral - wow, there are a lot of people ahead of me. Time to get to work :) Did periodic destruction for the week. I keep forgetting to do this. Finally, after the xpac is over, discovered the great combo of Coarse Leather Barding (can't be dazed in BFA zones), Monel-hardened stirrups (can interact while mounted) and a flying mount. Makes Terror of the Tadpoles (shoo 100 tadpoles) achievement much simpler! I killed some rares, found a runechest I'd not unlocked yet - the macro on wowhead helps a lot with finding ones that are up. Give Me the Biggest Bag You've Got scares me a bit. Flashbacks to the still unfinished Timeless Isle achievement. Finished with Nautical Nuisances of Nazjatar after dealing with the last three pets. I also realized I need 1000 pet charms to avoid going over my limit once Shadowlands opens - probably a good idea to do some pet dailies

[2,572 of 3,898] Nazmir and Vol'dun misc.

I played a bit last night and some more this morning. I started with Treasures of Zulduzar and Treasures of Nazmir since both were simple "follow the co-ordinates" achievements, then more Jani trash quests. I started in Vol'Dun this morning by picking up some more items for Get Hek'ed for Jani. Grinding the deer and fawns took a lot longer than expected - I gave up last night and  almost gave up this morning. Then I grabbed all three pirate buffs and killed twenty undead pirates for Scourge of Zem'lan. It was fun to visit another subzone I'd completely forgotten about. I spent quite a while Sandfishingr all of the different colored scales. If you do this, there are two tricks: first, turn off auto loot. Second, spam-click the fishing pole to spawn a bunch of mobs. Then only loot the items you still need to avoid ending the world quest. In the end Adept Sandfisher took a bit over half an hour to do. Back over to Nazmir to do another quest for Jani for Get Hek

[2568 of 3898] Misc. stuff and All The Things

Lots of miscellaneous stuff this update. After the long grind of the Alliance war campaign, I decided to pick up whatever happened to be nearby according to All The Things.  I started with the Darkmoon Faire to get the 10% buff so that I could work on the Rajani rep I'm still missing (about 6k to go - this will be my 100th rep too!), along with the 16% buff from the event. As usual when I visit, I grab 5x Simple Flour for the cooking quest and a set of BoE quest items. Usually these cost 100g to 400g on my server but instead they were around 1500g each this time. I turned in one of each anyway on the assumption that new DMF items will end up being added in Shadowlands and I'd rather have a surplus of tokens. Next up was a set of four island expeditions for the cap. I made it a point to do quests as I'm missing a lot of those. As for the PVP achievements, I've given up on these without an explicit group being made to farm them as there are never any queues. I keep gettin

[2564 of 3898] Two Sides To Every Tale and more

On Sunday, my Alliance Priest made it through the 400+ quests and five (?) dungeons needed to finish enough of the Alliance war campaign and get the Two Sides To Every Tale achievement. That was entertaining, if long. Pick up a mount or two didn't hurt either. Yesterday I worked on some Rajani rep, and completely forgot to use the 16% bonus and the 10% bonus from Darkmoon Faire. :( After that, I decided it was time to clear out my quest logs and bags in preparation for Shadowlands. I ended up turning in a quest in Twilight Highlands, at which point All The Things reminded me that I only has a couple of outstanding tasks in that zone. As a result, I spent a bit of time hunting down all the rares for Dragonmaw Tour of Duty . I also knocked out part of An Awfully Big Adventure (the one that involves fighting a huge number of pet battles with a useless Elekk plushie on your team). Honestly, I love that kind of achievement hunting - it's a lot of fun to use achievements to stumble

Almost done with Alliance War Campaign

Small update today - I've mostly been working on the War Campaign on Alliance for Two Sides To Every Tale. I'm (finally) almost finished, with just two sub-sections of the last achievement to go. It's quite a grind, comprising over 400 quests and many dungeons but overall it's been enjoyable. I picked a small account-wide achievement on my priest too - "Loot 100,000 gold", which is worth 70 achievement points. Once two sides is done, I'll likely try to unlock all of the Alliance-side allied races. I don't feel like levelling them all up much, but given that it's both Darkmoon Faire this week *and* there is a 16% bonus to rep and exp, it's probably a good time to do so. What I wonder right now is if the allied race achievements count across multiple accounts with the same Battle.net account. Finally, a small tip: log into every character you have during the 16th Anniversary as this will give you 200 Timewalking badges per alt.

[2558 of 3897] Alliance shadow priest and lots of other things

I've been lazy on updates and I need to keep this one quick. I picked up a bunch of little achievements that I need to go back and document, hopefully in my next post. I hit exalted with Uldum and I'm close with the pandaria version of uldum whose name I can't remember. I took a bit of time to work on getting the extra toys and pets from the Visions (e.g. the rotten apple toy that you get after throwing a rotten apple in Stormwind 100 times). I ended up using a fantastic Weak Aura to help find "corrupted" versions of normal mobs in the two Assault zones (see wowhead for information on this Weak Aura). I picked up some herbs for the llama in Uldum but have yet to spot the llama yet. Recently I've worked on the Alliance War Campaign with a new shadow priest. I did all three of the alliance zones (holy crap Stormsong took forever...) and I've done the first dungeon (Tol Dagor). My hope is that I can finish it in the next couple of days and end up with Two

[2553 of 3648] All Mythic +15 complete! Plus planning for pre-patch

I finished the Battle For Azeroth Keystone Master achievement by getting the final +15 Mythics that I needed. Just like most of the others, I did this by buying runs instead of actually putting in the work to do them all properly. (I DID do some of the +15s with my guild but I didn't want to lean on them too much). I did some more Island Expeditions this week and picked up 500 doubloons for one of the mounts. This put me at 300, which gave me both Lord of the Reins and another mount towards 400 :) Some planning for the pre-patch: First, as usual, I need to focus on the things that are going away forever. Getting the +15 mount (and Bruce from the Brawler's Guild quest) were my main pre-patch goals. There are some other things liek the Mad World feat of strength that are tempting but I don't care all that much about titles, unless there is a non-feat achievement associated with them.  I'll most likely try to hit rank 4 brawlers guild because I'm nearly there anyway a

[2544 of 3646] Admiral, Mechagon and Naz'jatar plus a ten-person achievement!

First up, and only because it's been sitting in my "Achievements" tracker for months is that I finally completed Admiral by finishing 1000 garrison naval battles. This has been a slow achievement to  get because I swapped out all of my naval equipment that allows different types of battles to be completed and replaced them with equipment that grants some fish on completion of the battle. This equipment counts as having "fished" the fish, which completed a bunch of "catch 100 of X fish" achievements and it also supposedly has a chance to catch the Sea Turtle mount, which is why I kept it. Anyway, it's been months so I'm glad to no longer see this one on my list. I've been fairly carefully working on a lot of the Mechagon achievements and I have a whole lot of them in an "almost finished" state with just two or three sub-objectives left. Mechagon is one of those zones where it takes quite a long time to learn all of the mechanical

[2534 of 3646] Mechagon and Mythic 15s

It's been a fun couple of days (okay, hours, since I don't get to play all day long). I knocked out another M15 (Junkyard) meaning I only need five more of them to get my Awakened Mindborer . It's worth noting that I paid 89,000g for the group, although I'm starting to feel like I can hold my own - I out DPS'ed two of the three people carrying me. I finally got the last rank 3 essence I needed by obtaining Revered with the Uldum Accord, and I picked up another 480 Azerite item. After that, I've been working on Mechagon mostly. I completed a whole bunch of sub-achievements and finally got the hang of a lot of the systems like drill rigs. I picked up a large stack of missing blueprints too. Again, this whole thing is reminding me that it's worth it to try to fully understand all of the systems in place on day one, instead of thinking "I'll get to that later", since I missed out on so much while regularly questing here. I'll remember that for

[2238 of 3346] Mechagon spare parts farming

Over the last few days I've been working on my gear, including doing the occasional sim and spending a bit of time working out what the best talents/ gear/ corruption / azerite essences and so on are. One of the things I've needed to do is to is get rank three in each of my four essences that I'm using for Mythic+ - Blood of the Enemy, Purification Protocol, Breath of the Dying and Essence of the Focusing Iris. In order to get rank 3 Purification protocol, I ended up having to farm 20 S.P.A.R.E. Crate's, which meant joining a Mechagon "spare parts" farming group. I'd never seen the need to do this before but I'm glad that I did. The whole thing was super-efficient, with me just spamming AOE for an hour while others tagged and pulled mobs to the group. Importantly, they use the weather control tower nearby to change the weather to "raining" so that the mobs also have much lower HP, something I didn't think about doing before. I ended up w

[2233 of 3346] Brawl'Gar Arena, Island Expeditions, Legendary Cloak and Mythic +15's.

My default stance is that I usually don't bother getting a decent set of gear during the expansion because when a new patch comes out, it's all obsolete anyway. This strategy means that working on current-gen content seldom works out - I'm usually undergeared. The main reason for this in the past has been that I don't have enough time in my day to devote to mythic raiding, but I realized that Mythic+ is still a perfectly fine way to gather gear and so for the last few weeks I've been trying to raise my ilevel here and there. I'm at 465 ilevel now, hardy spectacular but enough that I can enjoy most of the current content at least. Because of this gear boost, I've decided to finally focus on completing the Brawler's Guild questline before the mount goes away for good in a month or two. I also plan on completing all +15 keys in time in order to get that achievement (and mount) as well as doing enough Island Expeditions to finish the vast majority of those

Back after a lot of time off

I kind of gave up on WoW for a while (again), mostly because of a combination of boredom and work. I think the legendary cloak thing just irritated me because of the poor design: the only real way to get past around rank six it to go with a group, but the only people who want a rank six cloak person are those who are around the same level. Many weeks into an expansion, that's effectively nobody (I keep trying in LFG) and so I just gave up. I restarted my efforts around eight or nine days ago after deciding to finally get enough gear, essences, azerite traits, corruption etc. to be able to consistently do mythic plus dungeons. I don't have the uninterrupted time to raid right now but M+ is doable, and the whole game feels so much more fun when you have good gear. Anyway, I paid gold for two M15 runs and two 5-mask runs to get quickly back up to speed and my cloak is at rank 10 now and I've mostly figured out all the essences and things that I need to be semi-competent. My ge
