[2,595 of 3898] Shadowlands prep

Friday Evening:

I checked Mechagon without luck and then got a couple of friends together to do some of the older achievements. I picked up four of the five I needed for Cataclysm Raider , including both of the Temple of the Four Winds achievements. I mis-read the Nefarion one or I'd have a shiny new mount today. I also picked up a couple of Cataclysm heroic dungeon achievements that I was missing.

I'm going to try to knock out a lot of these this week - they are easy and quick and by doing so, I'll be better able to gage how much more I still need to do once all the easy stuff is done.

Saturday:

I did my three Naz'jatar follower dailies, then went pet charm hunting with three world quests.

I deecided to clear out the pet battles in my quest log. Gnomergan was the first one - I had to defeat it in challenge mode. I found this useful from wowhead:

If you're horde, the ideal, death-free way of getting to Micro Zoox is the following:
- go to Grom'gol Base Camp in Nothern Stranglethorn
- take the teleport into Gnomegeran
- create a custum group and instantly leave it (or join an existing group)
- wait a minute to get teleported out of the dungeon
You'll spawn right before the NPC! No deaths, no repair costs!

I promptly wasted HOURS doing this dungeon, only to finally fail for the last time on the very last boss because I didn't fully read the strat and missed a key line. :( I was so frustrated that I gave up.

Yesterday:

With Gnomergan mocking me, I decided to get some more pet charms, followed by a Naz'jatar puzzle check and the dailies for followers. I played a bit more in the evening but it was mostly just gather Shadowlands supplies and grabbing additional pet charms.

In terms of supplies, I'm using the suggestions found on a Reddit thread:

LIGHT STEP HOOFPLATES 5

GUNSHOES 80

DRUMS (UP TO LVL 51) 5

GREATER FLASK 15

ABYSSAL HEALING POTION 80

TEN LANDS XP POT (50-51) 2

BEAR TRTR / FIGHTER CHW 40

GOBLIN GLIDERS 60

LIGHTFOOT POTION (50-51) 15

HERBALISTS SPADE (PROF) 1

TOME - (QUIET MIND) 5

This morning:

Another round of Naz'jatar dailies for followers, plus another puzzle chest and then some pet charms. I'm at about 850 charms now so I'll hopefully be over 1000 by the time the xpac drops.

Planning for the final week of BFA:

Weekly Periodic Destruction

At least three island expeditions.

Try to do a heroic warfront (I think I need Darkshore).

Do a bunch of Visions of N'Zoth to clear bags and to try to get We Have The Technology

Do all pet battle dungeons (this should also clear out my quest log)

Make progress on everything left in my log so I don't have to hang on to a bunch of old quests.

Find a Shadowlands guide to each profession and IMPORTANT find out which reps I need to grind first and how to do them.

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
