[2,588 of 3,898] Adventure and Treasure

Yesterday evening:

Bit more Shadowlands beta to look at the Vulpin ability from the Night Fae. It seems okay I guess but the teleport is minimal and the rest of the ability is like a modified ghost wolf and really not all that great. The other covenant that has the warlock teleport power may be more interesting - I need to check it out.

Next up was a bit more time in Naz'jatar where I did the War Mode event and picked up some Naz'jatar Battle Commendation (need 150 for the mount, plus 30+10 for the two toys). I have 66 right now.

I also picked up Symbol of Gral for 75 Prismatic Manapearls. Worth it since I have no idea what else to spend them on. I'm up to 386 toys now - closing in fast on the 400 toy achievement!

Next I went to farm for a Fathom Ray Wing, which is needed for I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare? and also gives 50 rep with two followers. I gave up after about 35 rays though - wasn't in the mood.

I headed to Drustvar to get some Pet Charms - I need 1000 of them for the new storage limit and I only have around 670. Travelling to this quest led me to kill a rare I needed for Adventurer of Drustvar as well.

A quick wander around Drustvar found a couple more rares that I needed, along with a Drust Ritual Knife from a treasure and one of the Drust Stele's needed for Drust the Facts, Ma'am. Another rare soon followed.

A quick Argent Tournament Tabard and I was at the Icecrown Scourge dailies. One thing I noticed was that the Putrid Geist pet that was 20,000g yesterday was just 2.5k today. I expect it will get even lower. My plan is to start buying them on the 18th or so and keep buying the cheapest ones until the expansion launches and they become unobtainable. I expect they will stay low for a year or so and then pick up to decent levels again, especially because (unlike Haunted Memento etc.) they actually have a function.

This morning:

Started in Naz'jatar again. No puzzle chests that I needed were up so I just did follower experience quests. I also stumbled upon Kelpwillow, which dropped the coral bark that grants +100 to all three followers, as well as counting for the I Thought You Said They'd Be Rare? quest. In addition, killing 15 hydras for the bounty gave me Subaquatic Support (complete 30 bounty quests)!

Next, I headed to Tiregard Sound to get 20 more pet charms. I'm basically finished with this zone other than the "gain 1000 honor" achievement. Boralus will be my next port of call.

This evening:

Into Drustvar, starting with Adventurer of Drustvar. It didn't take too long to get it. Best parts were picking a side to fight for with Longfang, and the Drust Soulcatcher that can rez you if you die (sadly only 20 uses).

Cursed Game Hunter was next and it was also simple to finish. I grabbed some treasures while flying over them. Interestingly, the last one that I finished (the crabs) were when I was in Tiragard Sound, yet it still counted.

Drust the Facts, Ma'am was next. This was slightly fiddly even with TomTom waypoints - some of these items are well hidden next to other stones. As an aside, I also ended up flying to the top of Mount Cortis and spotteted the easter egg of a signpost with the word "first" on it and a dead skeleton next to it. :) For the hell of it, I used a goblin glider to get back down (in preparation for the 23rd when I won't have flying any longer).

Sausage Sampler is the next one. Or would be. I'm not Alliance, so I need to buy these on the AH (or use an alt to do so).

Instead I went on to Treasures of Drustvar. The Heartsbane Grimoire toy from one of the chests boosted my toy count to 388, just 12 short of the 400 needed for the next achievement.

The simple stories told by the treasures are part of the reason I love achievement hunting. For example, the "merchant's chest" is obtainable from an overturned wagon, a squashed merchant and a "gorging raven" that needs to be killed to release the keys. It's almost forgettable if you rush through the game but I love finding these little unique things.

Getting all of the treasures also gave me Wicker, a pet. I already had one but a second one doesn't hurt. There a few things left to do in this zone but it's mostly alliance stuff, like the Lucille's Handkerchief toy, various sausages and various drinks and a worldquest that isn't up yet.

On to Stormsong Valley!

Adventurer of Stormsong Valley is first on the list. It looks like I have literally one more rare to kill to get it. Sadly, the "Whiplash!" quest isn't up right now, so I have to skip this one for now.

Sabertron likewise isn't up right now :(

In the end I headed back to Naz'jatar, where the Blue Hard Difficulty chest was up (thanks macro from wowhead!) and so was Caverndark Terror, a rare I needed to kill. I also noticed I'd finished four Naz'jatar world quests and so grabbed the emissary - that led to me getting A Fistful of Mana Pearls.

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
