[2564 of 3898] Two Sides To Every Tale and more

On Sunday, my Alliance Priest made it through the 400+ quests and five (?) dungeons needed to finish enough of the Alliance war campaign and get the Two Sides To Every Tale achievement. That was entertaining, if long. Pick up a mount or two didn't hurt either.

Yesterday I worked on some Rajani rep, and completely forgot to use the 16% bonus and the 10% bonus from Darkmoon Faire. :(

After that, I decided it was time to clear out my quest logs and bags in preparation for Shadowlands. I ended up turning in a quest in Twilight Highlands, at which point All The Things reminded me that I only has a couple of outstanding tasks in that zone. As a result, I spent a bit of time hunting down all the rares for Dragonmaw Tour of Duty. I also knocked out part of An Awfully Big Adventure (the one that involves fighting a huge number of pet battles with a useless Elekk plushie on your team).

Honestly, I love that kind of achievement hunting - it's a lot of fun to use achievements to stumble upon new things, rather than treating them almost like a chore. ATT is such a fantastic addon because it makes it so easy to see nearby achievements and exactly what is required to complete them.

Anyway, after Twilight Highlands, I realized that I'd not finished the Vulpera allied race questline. I was most of the way finished too - just the Suramar portion was left. It was a pleasant surprise to get both an extra toy and a mount from the questline.

Some random quest or other led me to Stormsong Valley next. I finished up the last of the Tortollan quests there that I'd never bothered to do before and again ATT reminded me of several unfinished achievements (mostly because, as horde, I didn't start on this continent).

Legends of the Tidesages was a simple "go to X co-ordinates Y times" achievement, while These Hills Sing was a fun little easter egg. I also noticed the Sabertron WQ was up and made some progress on Sabertron Assemble, which requires killing one Sabertron of every color and needs the WQ for the colored variants to spawn.

Finally, not exactly an achievement, but I also picked up the "secret" mount Nazjatar Blood Serpent!

The steps are pretty simple: go to the AH, buy 20 of the required item, to to the altar, use the item, go to another flaming alter thing, use the new item, kill a fairly tough elite, get a new mount! Again, ATT is the reason I noticed this at all.

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
