[2238 of 3346] Mechagon spare parts farming

Over the last few days I've been working on my gear, including doing the occasional sim and spending a bit of time working out what the best talents/ gear/ corruption / azerite essences and so on are. One of the things I've needed to do is to is get rank three in each of my four essences that I'm using for Mythic+ - Blood of the Enemy, Purification Protocol, Breath of the Dying and Essence of the Focusing Iris.

In order to get rank 3 Purification protocol, I ended up having to farm 20 S.P.A.R.E. Crate's, which meant joining a Mechagon "spare parts" farming group. I'd never seen the need to do this before but I'm glad that I did. The whole thing was super-efficient, with me just spamming AOE for an hour while others tagged and pulled mobs to the group. Importantly, they use the weather control tower nearby to change the weather to "raining" so that the mobs also have much lower HP, something I didn't think about doing before.

I ended up with an enormous quantity of the recycling components (e.g. Hardened Spring). I originally planned on selling these for around 12g per item on the AH (which is an insanely good price) but then realized that they were needed to unlock several of the sub-achievements on Mechagon. As a result, I turned in probably thirty recycling crates and picked up a bunch of music scrolls and paint colors and the like. I definitely need to come back here again to finish up all of these half-finished achievements.

More generally, I wish I'd taken the time to learn all of these systems earlier. There is so much to the game that I feel I've been missing, like how all of the different corruption and essence systems work, how to use titan residium properly, how the rare spawns in mechagon work and so on. In my quest for "efficiency", I'd ignored learning about a lot of these systems, assuming I'd just learn them later when it was older content if I needed to but I see now that that was a mistake. Not only was I missing out on having much better gear (which makes EVERYTHING simpler), but I was missing out on a lot of the fun of the game - doing current content with other people.

Anyway, my current primary goal is to gear up to the point that I can finish the missing M15 keys I need for the mount that is going away in the pre-patch. I'd also like to hit rank 8 in the brawler's guild since I'm already halfway there anyway and it would be nice to get the feat of strength before it goes away (I already have the Bruce mount, which was a really fun questline).

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
