First up, and only because it's been sitting in my "Achievements" tracker for months is that I finally completed Admiral by finishing 1000 garrison naval battles. This has been a slow achievement to get because I swapped out all of my naval equipment that allows different types of battles to be completed and replaced them with equipment that grants some fish on completion of the battle. This equipment counts as having "fished" the fish, which completed a bunch of "catch 100 of X fish" achievements and it also supposedly has a chance to catch the Sea Turtle mount, which is why I kept it. Anyway, it's been months so I'm glad to no longer see this one on my list.
I've been fairly carefully working on a lot of the Mechagon achievements and I have a whole lot of them in an "almost finished" state with just two or three sub-objectives left. Mechagon is one of those zones where it takes quite a long time to learn all of the mechanical details (like "hard mode" Reclamation Rig, or how the Drill Rig bosses unlock etc.) and it's something I wish I'd learned earlier while I was getting rep to hit exalted. I confess that I still find the RNG of certain missions being unavailable annoying, but at least there are Mechagon Transporters to make it quick to check every day.
Installing a number of rare-related addons to warn me if one pops has helped immensely with Mechagon, as has the "spare parts farm" LFG option. Since I think these group farms will become a lot more rare in Shadowlands, I'm farming roughly 100 S.P.A.R.E. crates now since that's the amount needed for me to complete the "contribute 1000 times" achievement as well as to craft 1000 items. Again, talking about mechanics: using the weather control to make it rain in the junkyard makes the mobs there vastly easier to kill and I'm kicking myself for not knowing this sooner.
I've been working on Naz'jatar in a similar way to Mechagon, although I like the zone less because it's so crowded with elites and because there are so many layers that it takes a long time to find the right location even with a co-ordinate. Like Mechagon, there are a lot of things that basically require foreknowledge via Wowhead to handle efficiently, such as Aqua Team Murder Force (getting all allies to rank 30). There are a bunch of achievements that are only really efficient when done with a macro from Wowhead as well.
A small thing: after hundreds of pet battle reward packs, I *finally* obtained the Chain Pet Leash toy! All The Things has pestered me about this toy in many different zones (since it can drop from almost any master pet tamer) and I liked the feeling of satisfaction when it finally showed up and cleared from my lists.
Speaking of All The Things - this is, by far, the best achievement addon ever crated. There are so many things that I've found myself doing simply because I was in the zone and ATT suggested it. Contextual "to do" lists are fantastic - I wish I had them (with auto-tracking) in real life.
As for pet battles, I've been forcing myself to complete more PVP pet battles. I do them in my Draenor garrison so they count towards Draenor Pet Brawler (win 2000 battles in Draenor), as well as the related achievements like Deadly Pet Brawler and Grand Master Pet Brawler (which requires 1000 PVP battles with a team of level 25 pets). My plan for 5000 PVP battles is to cheese out the rest with an alt and deliberately queuing with an odd mix of pet levels to pair against each other easily.
My desire to complete more pet battles has increased quite a bit recently since I learned that my current team (Murkalot, Twilight Clutch Sister, Blackfuse Bombling) is getting a massive nerf to Murkalot come Shadowlands. Ideally I'd hit 1000 PVP pet battles before that point - I'm at 417 right now.
I've also worked on the An Awfully Big Adventure achievement (use a useless Elekk Plushie on your team and defeat lots of masters) this week, mostly because All The Things keeps reminding me I've yet to do it in specific zones. If I only work on this achievement when I'm already IN the zone (to minimize travel time) then it's fairly quick to knock these out as I have a large stable of level 25 pets to choose from.
Some other small things: I did my first Guldan mount attempt with my wife. I've done none of these raids on Mythic, so there are a lot of quick achievements to pick up in The Nighthold etc. I've also found myself doing a few achievements suggested by the Collections And Achievements chat channel - I ended up doing one in Blackrock Foundry that requires ten coordinated people to finish!
Next up: with Shadowlands confirmed for October, I think the pre-patch date will be September 22nd or 29th. I'm planning for the 22nd and my next post should include a lost of everything I want to get done before that point.
This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...
