[3,126 of 4,647] The Shadows Revealed!

8/7/23: I picked up the Duskytooth Snooter by repeatedly resetting the Mechagon instance 18 times until it spawned!

Next I did some more Little Scales Daycare quests and picked up two more pets from it. 1464 total now.

Now to use my Ultrasafe Transporter and head back to Mechagon to get the last two pets I need. The first of which, Specimen 97, looks like it should be easy enough to catch as it's supposed to be unique but always up.

The last one I needed was Yellow Junkhopper. I took the advice on wowhead and made a macro to target it, then repeatedly exited and re-entered the Mechagon instance in order to eventually have one pop up. I think I did this thirteen times or so before it worked (lockout is at 10, so it took an extra hour) and now I finally have [Mecha-Safari]!

I went after the Shadowlands pets next. I was missing four, including Clutch which is semi-rare so I went after that one first. The rest were easy and so now I have [Shadowlands Safari]]!

8/8/23: I spent a bit of time hunting for Grizzlefur Cub and Tiny Timbertooth without luck, but I managed to grab the other pet I was missing for [Dragon Isles Safari]. I'll try again after server reset and the weekly quests that come with it.

After logging back in, I picked up a rare mob I was missing for one of the Adventurer achievements and then headed to Little Daycare for the dailies.

In the evening, I decided to finally finish Gnomergan's pet battle challenge. It took a long time and I almost failed but I now have [Pet Battle Challenge: Gnomergan]]!

8/9/23: I started with the Little Scales Daycare quests again then decided to work on the last pet dungeon - Blackrock Depths! This one is much harder than the others and can only be unlocked after defeating all the other pet dungeons. To start, I need level 25 rare versions of a bunch of pets, several of whom I need to level up, so I'll be doing that first.

I leveled up Squirky first, then Pet Bombling. Both I had to use a stone on to turn rare. Squirky was level 23 so I could just use two 2000xp stones to finish him but the Pet Bombling was level 1 so I needed to go battle some pet trainers to get that one done. I also managed to get a trainer for [An Awfully Big Adventure]. Or, scratch that, I WOULD have, but Brok only seems to allow one battle per day. Damn.

I managed to find all the required pets (except Broot, but I think I can use Blossoming Ancient here) and I had enough pet charms to upgrade everything to rare. I was missing one breed of one of the pets but I found it on the AH (it was the only one there, so I got lucky getting the right breed). Now I just need to level four more pets to 25 and I'll be ready for the dungeon.

I headed to Pandaria to use the various pet trainers there to level up my remaining pets. I ended up having to go to Draenor as well to finish up, but after two and a half hours I'd managed to get a full set of level 25, rare, correct breed pets for the dungeon.

Later, after a break, I worked on the dungeon itself. It's a pain, some of the posted strats didn't work and it took me almost two full hours to finish normal. Next up is the "no heals" version but I think I'll leave that for tomorrow.

8/10/23: I didn't feel like doing the dungeon yet, so I did the Little Sclaes Daycare quests to start the day.

After that, I worked on Loamm Niffen rep for the weekly, as well as ten daily quests for another weekly.

8/12/23: Little Scales Daycare again. I really like these little quests. Today I had a pet try on some glasses and I appreciated the work that went into making the screen change colors and blurriness just for a few seconds of quest.

I also did my Big Slick daily. I still dislike these - they take a long time for such a minimal reward. Only six more days to go here.

After that, I re-did the Blackrock Depths dungeon and picked up [Pet Battle Challenge: Blackrock Depths] and [The Shadows Revealed]]!

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
