Working on Secret Fish and planning for the week

I'm trying to make more of an effort to clean up the quests and achievements that have been sitting around for what seems like forever on the right hand side of my screen. To that end, I spent an hour before bed and an hour before the weekly reset working on Secret Fish and Where to Find Them - my wife already has this achievement which she described as "a pain" and I'm both jealous of her awesome ball of the ocean toy and tired of seeing the achievement listed under the ones I've been tracking as a reminder.

Anyway, I picked up a dozen or so of the fish I'm currently missing and I only have nine left. I got a nice surprise right before the server reset, fishing up a Mimic Octopus for the Pandaren Angler achievement (and a few Nat Pagle rep). I also managed to get another Tol Barad win randomly - now at 23/25 wins for the last achievement I need for that meta.

Plans for the next week:

  1. It's Timewalking this week, so I want to do at least one Timewalking dungeon on both my main and on an alt alliance mage for the 500 tokens - gotta get those mounts!
  2. It's apparently Firelands Timewalking. I still need more Firelands rep, so I'll be doing that too.
  3. The usual Molten Core run for rep and my last armor piece. I've got this down to under ten minutes and I use all three guild banners for extra rep.
  4. A Throne of Thunder run for rep and missing set pieces. Hopefully I'll hit exalted here.
  5. I'm going to farm some Timeless Isle rares and Emperor rep. I feel like I'll hit exalted long before I get all the stuff for the horribly difficult Going to Need a Bigger Bag so I'm not stressing about this one too much.
  6. Finish Secret Fish. I have the schematics to go to The Other Place in Mechagon whenever I wish, so the occasional nature of the Chromie quest isn't an issue here.
  7. I'm aiming to do a BG a Brawl and an Epic BG every day to both gradually work on my PVP achievements and to get some more Mark of Honor to finish up my "appearances" achievements.
  8. After all that, I'm not sure. I should probably work on Broken Isles pet dailies since that's a long grind and they only have a couple up at a time but I find it really tiresome to have to travel all the way to every trainer and, more importantly, I can't yet tell at a glance which quests yield relevant trainers and which are with ones that don't have achievements. I should print out a list.
  9. Daily Naval Missions for the "1000 Naval Missions" achievement. Blah.

All of the above mostly feels like housekeeping. I need to find a new meaty set of achievements to work on next. Is it finally time to go through all the old Dungeons and Raids achievements that I'm missing? Cataclysm looks like it's full of quick wins:

Current achievements: 2175 / 3281 (66%)

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
