94/100 Exalted Reputations

I picked up The Unshackled exalted this morning. I'd been slacking on it as I don't really like the zone - the multi-level nature of it makes it hard to find things even with a flying mount and I keep accidentally aggroing mobs that are a real pain in the ass to kill.

The screenshot above is my current Steamwheedle Cartel rep. I did every quest in Winterspring and Stranglethron Vale (three new achievements there) and then I've mostly been grinding the pirates in Tanaris to get exalted. It's very slow going but a combination of the 15% bonus rep and the guild banner that also gives 15% rep makes now the best time to grind it. I'll try to have this completely finished in a week or so. One small thing that I noticed: you can't actually hit exalted with Gadgetzan while grinding these mobs - they stop at 20,999 revered. You'll need to kill pirates in Ratchet for the final point.

Other notable reps I picked up: The Oracles, The Ogri'la and The Scale of the Sands.

I've been slowly grinding my way through Hydraxian Waterlords as well. This is one of these reps that is simply going to take months and I'm resigned to it. At least I still need stuff from MC like my last Earthfury set piece.

To break up the grinding, I (with help from my talented, beautiful wife) ran through mythic Siege of Orgrimmar yesterday. Holy crap that was a lot of achievement points. This is what my "Raids and Dungeons" looked like before the run:

And this is it now:

I'm sure I did some other stuff over the last couple of weeks but the specifics escape me. I *did* do enough Alterac Valley to get all the 15 year anniversary stuff, including the mount.

One other thing I badly need to work on is getting a set of PVP gear that doesn't suck. Right now I'm blocked on getting Blood of the Enemy because I can never seem to find a group to do a PVP island expedition. I actually have rank two unlocked already, I just need a stupid island and I'll be set.

In terms of grinds, I'm alternating between the Tanaris pirates (to finish getting Steamwheedle rep) and then finishing off my Firelands rep. I also aim to do a battleground every day and at least one mythic ten each week just to keep my gear relevant. I don't raid right now - my plan is to raid hardcore in the next expansion, assuming I can get most of the PVP achievements this expansion.

Now back to Molten Core for this week's run...

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

Beta update - best achievement EVER!

It probably won't make it to live. But check out this feat of strength from the beta:

A Song of Wind and Water

I've been working on Oracles and Ogri'la rep every day and have about four days to go. One thing I've noticed about these older daily quests is that there is little provision for high-level players that one-shot everything. Two quests in particular stand out as being annoying until you learn the high-level trick. The first is Banish More Demons in Blade's Edge. This involves placing a portal on the ground then killing demons within a few feet of the portal. The portal has a one-minute cooldown and you need fifteen demons. It was a slow exercise in frustration because kiting further-away demons was difficult sue to all my abilities one-shotting them before they got near. In the end, I learned to use the Shaman's "Purge" ability to aggro mobs without killing them and pull them close to the portal. The second, and more annoying, quest that isn't scaled for high-level players is the Ogri-la's Song of Wind and Water .  This involves weakening ...
