So I *really* haven't played many of the Shadowlands dungeons. I decided to do some +5 keys with random players to practice my healing skills a bit before working on higher keys with my guild. I don't think I've ever properly healed a mythic before and I certainly don't know any of the fights, as this image attests.
My main focus right now is on gearing up past the crappy LFR (or lower) gear I have on right now and getting some drops from M+, as well as trying to get my 4-piece set bonus as quickly as possible. I debated switching to Kyrian (from Venthyr) for the extra DPS boost but I don't want to have to re-do so many other things. I'm planning on getting all of the Venthyr unlocks first and then *maybe* I'll switch.
I'm also working on the new area. I've unlocked flying (thankfully) but I still need to do a bunch of the time-gated research and generally grind rep and the various achievements in the zone. It's fun for now, although I suspect it will be less fun when I need a super rare drop to finish the zone.
Healing M+ is stressful, mostly because I don't know the fights but also because everyone moves so fast that I sometimes lag behind and they get out of range. In addition, I'm still learning to use all my abilities. I have the main healing rotation down, but I basically never use things like Ascendance or Spiritwalker's Grace or Capacitor Totem or Spirit Link Totem, mostly because I just don't have the muscle memory for them yet, nor the sense of timing when they are best used. I'm working on that though.
Speaking of muscle memory, I also completely reworked my controls. I've been using the 1-handed keyboards like the N52, N52-TE and Razer Orbweaver Chroma for many, many years of WoW. I ended up ditching the Orbweaver and just using a regular keyboard for three reasons:
1. It lacked the scrollwheel that the N52 had (I know the Tartarus has one).
2. The glue on the pads is super shitty and came off both after a few months of use. I used superglue but it was never quite the same.
3. I got super nerdy about RGB lighting and the Orbweaver doesn't work well with SignalRGB, probably because it only supports Synapse 2.0 and not 3.0.
The third reason was the main issue - Razer sells a product that they don't support with their latest software. Even when I bought it, I had to use two different versions of Synapse just to set it and my keyboard up. I eventually set up a bunch of reactive RGB lights (everything reacts to my screen, including the mouse, keyboard, mousemat, fans, CPU cooler and bigger lights like three Hue lightbars and two Nanoleaf Shapes installations). It all looks amazing, but the Orbweaver simply wouldn't work well with everything else, so I ditched it.
Form > function?
I'll upload a video of the setup soon. It looks fantastic.
