Loremaster of Cataclysm

Well that took longer than expected.

I thought I'd be able to bust through the cataclysm quests in a day or two, instead real life got the better of me. It turns out that newborn babies are more demanding than I thought :)

I've completely stopped regular raiding and I took a break of a couple of weeks from the game entirely but now I'm back focusing on the solo content.

I'm going to stick to my plan: solo content first. The reason is that with new raiding content coming out almost every major patch, I need to finish the content, including all heroics, before the next set of content comes out. This will require a concerted effort and it's only worth doing once everything else is completed, including all the PVP stuff. Remember, my goal is to reach 100% complete one time, not to stay at 100% complete forever :)

As for the quest content: my biggest complaint is the triviality of many of the quests. I'm not allowed to save the world from insurmountable forces until I collect enough boar spleens for farmer Bill's lunch. Also, there are zero choices to be made - everything is completely linear. I understand why MMO's need to be like this, but I wish there was a way to make more long-lasting choices even if it's something as simple as Aldor versus Scryer.

Anyway, Cataclysm quests are done, on with all the old world ones. I'm excited to see these - I purposely left the entire revamped world unexplored so I have a LOT of quests to finish up.

8/4/24: [Into the Storm]! I FINALLY had this one pop after over a month of waiting. 8/21/24: Taivan! I finished this with less than a day before TWW came out. 8/28/24: Lots of TWW achievements. I got 80 after three days and maxed out enchanting and did the campaign up until it's blocked. 9/12/24: [Sojourner of Azj-Kahet]! This one took a fair bit of time but was generally fun to do. I'm going to work on the other ones now, zone by zone. 10/20/24: [Loremaster of Khaz Algar]!

Remember to Share (300 Toys)!

This one has taken a while. I finally picked up 300 toys (and thus the mount for the achievement) after starting to seriously work on my Archaeology achievements for the first time. I've been doing the fortnightly Legion archaeology quests for a while (and thus had 800 skill) but I completely ignored this profession in earlier expansions as it seemed seriously boring. With some knowledge and a good addon, it's much better however. Some tips if you're just starting to work on archaeology: 1. Download the "Archy" addon. This addon does several things: first, it shows you the location and completion status of all digsites in the current continent. Second, it automatically sets the closes one as a waypoint for TomTom. Third, it indicates when it's possible to solve an artifact with and without a keystone, so you don't have to constantly check your archaeology screen. On top of that, the distance indicator shows when you are in the correct range from your ...

4/11/24: So I'm working on The World Awoken before it goes away in the next xpac. It's possible it won't go away but still, it's a good focusing mechanism. The longest one to get looks like it's going to be https://www.wowhead.com/achievement=16543/tetrachromancer#comments [Tetrachromancer] - people have done hundreds of hunts and not gotten all the colors. It looks like the strategy is to get class trials and do the weekly hunt with them to get purple bags, since those have a higher chance of dropping the colors (once weekly). 4/11/24: [Whose a Good Bakar?] This one took forever. I finally had it show up after a bunch of attempts. 4/12/24: [Puzzle Performer]! Finally! This one took forever but WQAchievements saved the day and let me know that it was up today. I also picked up [Adventurer of Thaldrassus]! [Longhunter] too! I picked up the Friendsurge Defenders toy and so now I can get the pet from the Emerald Dream! 4/13/24: Finished up the Eon's Fringe dailies...
